No-Li Releasing Slacker Ale Brewed With Orange Peel And Vanilla

Courtesy of No-Li Brewhouse
Spokane, WA…Brass Monkey has undeniably brought fun to the masses. But, let’s be honest, with a solid 8% ABV, that funky monkey can sneak up on you. Enter stage right; Brass Monkey’s laid back baby brother, Slacker!

This chimp off the ol’ block doesn’t care much to keep up with his big bro, but he has definitely taken on some of Brass Monkey's best qualities. Delivering a smooth foundation from wheat, acidulated and caramel malts, in addition to the sweet orange peel tossed in during boil, this brew lets the juicy orange flavor and aroma shine. The strong citrus character, reinforced by Comet and Cascade hops, only confirms that the delicious orange does not fall too far from the tree!

"We wanted this beer to be completely different from anything else we've done in a six-pack," says No-Li's Head Brewer, Carey Fristoe. "The real kicker in this one is the addition of Madagascar Vanilla Beans post fermentation, which gives the beer a creamy, slightly sweet, vanilla taste that melds seamlessly with the orange peel."

This dreamsicle-esque brew will offer a delightful 6.1% ABV and 20 IBUs.

Keep an eye out, because Slacker Brass Ale six-packs will be ready to kick it with the crowds on October 6th.

Cheers!

REDHOOK’S NO EQUAL BLONDE ALE, BREWED IN COLLABORATION WITH EMERALD CITY SUPPORTERS, WINS GOLD AT WASHINGTON BEER AWARDS

SEATTLE – Redhook Brewery is proud to announce that its ECS No Equal Blonde Ale won a gold medal in the American Light Ale category at the second annual Washington Beer Awards. More than 700 beers were entered in this year’s competition by more than one hundred Washington breweries.

Redhook ECS No Equal Blonde is a traditional Blonde Ale, brewed in collaboration with the Emerald City Supporters, the largest supporters’ group for Seattle Sounders FC.

“This is more than just an awesome win for Redhook, it’s a win for Seattle,” said Redhook’s Innovation Brewer Nick Crandall. “We take great pride in making beer that’s not only delicious, but celebrates our hometown.  The Sounders are an incredible source of pride in this city, and we’re pumped that we’ve brewed an award-winning beer  that recognizes  their amazing fans.”

The competition evaluated beers that were required to be both brewed and made commercially available in Washington State, and Redhook’s No Equal Blonde Ale beat out a number of competitors, including Reuben's Brews Cream Ale and Ram Restaurant & Brewery’s Blonde Ale.

Courtesy of Redhook Brewing Co
Redhook Brewery is proud to receive this honor in its home state of Washington, where the rapidly growing craft beer market has expanded to more than 250 breweries. Redhook recently made the decision to return to its hometown roots and open a new brewpub in Seattle, close to where the original brewery was located in the 1981.

About the Beer
ECS No Equal Blonde is traditionally brewed Blonde Ale. The use of Pale malt, malted wheat and crystal malts give this beer just the right amount of body and character. Traditional Northwest hops - Cascade and Willamette – help balance out the malt and leave a nice, refreshing citrus flavor. Clean, crisp and refreshing – enough to keep you going for the full 90. It has been brewed since 2014 and is available during the summer season.ABV 5.2% and 25 IBU.

About Redhook
Redhook was born out of the energy and spirit of the early 80s in the heart of Seattle. While the term didn’t exist at the time, Redhook became one of America’s first “craft” breweries. From a modest start in a former transmission shop in the Seattle neighborhood of Ballard, to the current breweries in Woodinville, WA, and Portsmouth, NH, Redhook has become one of America’s most recognized craft breweries. While Redhook has “grown up” over the past thirty years, one thing has never changed—Redhook is still brewing great beers like ESB, Long Hammer IPA and Audible Ale. Most importantly, Redhook has fun doing it. Redhook beers are available on draught and in bottles around the country. For more information, visit www.redhook.com. Ten FIDY From Oskar Blues returns For Fall

Courtesy of Oskar Blues Brewery
Brevard, NC -- Oskar Blues Brewery's award-winning Imperial Stout, Ten FIDY, makes its return to shelves and watering holes just in time for cool autumn temps and offers an alternative to the conventional varietals. Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is massively flavorful brew that is unlike any seasonal you'll find this fall.

"Its warmth makes this seasonal beer an ideal fall brew with its hearty flavor and initial sweetness. It's like the hot chocolate of beers. It's definitely a slow sipper-at 10.5% ABV, you don't want to swig these bad boys, but thanks to its thick, velvety feel and punch-in-the-chops hops, you probably won't be able to anyway" - Paste Magazine, 2013

Ten FIDY is an immensely viscous stout loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee underneath a smooth blanket of malt. This brew is constructed with colossal amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. With 98 IBUs, you won't forget you're drinking a burly beer.

"The brewing process for Ten FIDY is as unique as the stout beer itself. We have to mash-in two batches just to get one kettle filled because we only take the most concentrated wort from each mash. It's a labor intensive process, but this is part of how we make Ten FIDY so unique, rich, and complex," says Oskar Blues NC Operations Manager, Noah Tuttle.

Here's what others are have to say about Ten FIDY:

*   Gold Medal - 2010 and 2012 World Beer Championships

Get it while you CAN, until it's gone. It's autumn, but that doesn't mean you can't go big, go bold, go FIDY.

New Belgium Brewing to Tweak Abbey and Trippel Recipes

Courtesy of New Belgium Brewing Co
Recipe adjustments highlight advances in hop and malt production

Ft. Collins, Colo., September 2, 2015 – Two of New Belgium Brewing’s longest running beers, Abbey Belgian Style Dubbel and Trippel Belgian Style Ale, are being reimagined and updated for a new era. Both beers started life as homebrew recipes more than 25 years ago and new developments in hop and malt manufacturing have been incorporated. Subtle recipe tweaks will allow the malty and hoppy characteristics of each beer to shine through. A new yeast strain will help balance the esters and phenol while emphasizing the Belgian character of these beers. Although these are among the first Belgian-inspired craft beers produced in the U.S., New Belgium brewers could not resist tinkering with these classics. Internal sensory panelists affirmed the results a success.

“As an American craft brewer founded on Belgian tradition, we have a deep respect for our history and our roots,” said NBB Specialty Brand Manger, Lauren Salazar. “And of course, there’s a 'New' in our name for a reason. As brewers of craft beer, we need to embrace growth and change and continue to push ourselves to make the best beers possible. We think these changes exemplify the very best of old world Belgium and new craft technique.”

In addition to Munich malt, Trippel now incorporates Pilsener malt and one additional hop, Hallertau Mittelfrüh, for an herbal and spicy Nobel hop nose. Trippel is classically smooth and complex, with notes of fruit and spice before a pleasantly warm and crisp finish. Alcohol has increased slightly to 8.5%, 40 IBUs.

Abbey has eight different malts including caramel, Munich, chocolate and now oats for mouthfeel. The addition of Caramunich and Special W malt add rich tones of chocolate and dark caramel with hints of dried cherries, burnt sugar and figs. Sweet and roasty up front, followed by a slightly bitter finish, Abbey is a true-to-style representation of the monastic beers of Belgium. Alcohol rests at 7%, 20 IBU.

For a short time, both new and old versions may be found side-by-side on shelves. Beer drinkers can identify the new versions by their expiration dates; any Trippel with a Best Buy date of 4/17/16 or later is the new version; any Abbey with a Best Buy date of 6/19/16 or later is the new version as well.

Deschutes Reveals New Art Work For The 28th Release Of the 2015 Jubelale

Deschutes Brewery’s 2015 Jubelale Wrapped Up in Art by Bend, Oregon’s Taylor Rose
Deschutes Brewery announces the 28th release of its festive winter ale

Bend, Oregon - Deschutes Brewery’s winter seasonal, Jubelale, will start showing up on shelves and tap handles next month to help herald in the cooler days of fall. Inside the bottle, fans will find the warm spiciness, dried fruit and a hoppy finish they’ve come to love. Outside the bottle, this year’s packaging features a detailed illustration by artist Taylor Rose featuring a wintery hiking scene along a trout-filled riverbank.

Taylor said, “I wanted this illustration to be all about the beauty of adventuring on a cold snowy night. It’s called ‘First Tracks First Cast’ because there’s nothing more special than fresh snow, cold waters, and good company. I’m so honored to be amongst such a fantastic family of Jubelale artists.”

Taylor Rose, who is now based in Bend Oregon, grew up in a small New Hampshire town and spent a childhood immersed in the nature that now inspires her art. In her work, she is constantly rediscovering her inner child to portray a world that beautifies nature and embraces the imagination process. The 2015 Jubelale artwork is no exception. A detailed portrayal of a couple and their dog walking along a snow covered trail, peering into a trout-filled river, captures the beauty and wonderment that the outdoors offer anytime of the year.
Courtesy of Deschutes Brewery

She continued, “To create this piece I used a process of ‘pencil, ink, watercolor, digital.’ Everything starts with a pencil drawing, is then inked with a calligraphy brush, and lastly scanned into the computer to be painted digitally with high resolution scans of watercolor brushes/markings.”

The release of this year’s Jubelale will be celebrated in Bend at the brewery’s downtown pub at 1044 NW Bond Street on Monday, September 28th. Taylor Rose will be attending the event to sign posters from 5-8 p.m.

This year marks the 28th bottling of Jubelale, the first beer that Deschutes Brewery ever bottled. For the last 21 years, a different local artist has been chosen to create an original piece of art for the label. This “winter warmer” is always a favorite for the holiday season. Jubelale will be available everywhere Deschutes Brewery beer is sold, starting in September.  6.7% Alcohol by Volume (ABV); 60 International Bitterness Units (IBUs); 12-ounce bottles and draft.

No-Li Brewhouse Releases Copper Donkey A New Winter Seasonal

Courtesy of No-Li Brewhouse
Spokane, WA…It’s time to put on your ugly sweaters and grab the newest seasonal selection from No-Li! Hello, Copper Donkey!

Following a 'funky monkey' is not an easy feat, but this twist on a classic Moscow Mule more than rises to the occasion! Brewed with fresh ginger and Equinox hops to accentuate notes of lime and lemon, Copper Donkey will continue No-Li's play off of well-known citrus cocktails and replace Winter Warmer as their winter seasonal.

Damon Scott, No-Li’s Brewery Operations Manager, says, "Winter Warmer has always been well received, but we really want to push the boundaries with our seasonal brews. Brass Monkey definitely got people excited, and we're stoked to continue to experiment with unique flavors in our newest beers."

Copper Donkey will offer balanced flavors of ginger and lime at 8% ABV and 20 IBUs.  With a slight sweetness from the malts and flaked rye to emphasize the spiciness of the ginger, this copper-cupped spin-off will to be a lighter, more refreshing winter brew.

Keep an eye out, because Copper Donkey starts shipping on September 22nd.
Cheers!

Bring Back The Funk! Samuel Adams’ One-Of-A-Kind Kosmic Mother Funk Grand Cru, Released For A Limited Time Only

The 2015 Kosmic Mother Funk Grand Cru Tasting Tour Will Kick Off in Boston and Travel to 20 Cities, With the Final City Voted On By Samuel Adams Drinkers

BOSTON, September 1, 2015–The brewers at Sam Adams announced today that they will be taking their special limited-release Belgian style ale, Kosmic Mother Funk (KMF) Grand Cru, on a second annual Tasting Tour across the country. This batch of KMF Grand Cru will be poured at a limited number of bars and restaurants in 20 cities, with the final stop on the tour determined by drinkers who will vote for their city online.

The Kosmic Mother Funk recipe was inspired by the Belgians, known for unique beer styles and brewing techniques including blending, aging and conditioning beers that deliver wild and flavorful results. The Samuel Adams brewers began by taking a Belgian ale and aging it in Hungarian oak tuns where it evolved and took on a life and character of its own over time.  Aged for up to a year, the long contact with the wood allows air to slowly seep into the beer during secondary fermentation, smoothing out any harsh flavors. Wild yeast and bacteria including Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus also interact with the beer, imparting unique spicy, fruity and bright tart flavors. This distinctive beer was then blended at varying levels into a series of Belgian brews, the manifestation of which became the Samuel Adams Barrel Room Collection.

Originally a French term used to describe wine vintages, when used in the context of beer, ‘Grand Cru’ has come to denote a brew that is the ‘best of the best.’ When crafting Kosmic Mother Funk Grand Cru, the brewers at Samuel Adams aimed to create a unique beer unlike anything they had barrel-aged before.  At 6.5% ABV, KMF Grand Cru is a wild, funky and complex ale aged for just over a year, with a depth of flavors ranging from earthy and spicy to floral and sweet.

“Craft beer drinkers are adventurous and opening their palates to new and interesting flavors,” said Samuel Adams Brewer and Founder Jim Koch. “Kosmic Mother Funk Grand Cru isn’t for everyone, but those who enjoy it appreciate the depth and complexity that make it one of the most unique beers we’ve ever crafted, only to be described as a kosmic collection of flavors.”
To kick off the 2015 KMF Grand Cru Tasting Tour, Jim Koch will tap the first keg during a special event at the Boston Brewery on September 2nd where a very limited number of bottles will be available for sale. Tickets for the event at the brewery can be purchased at https://kmfbostonlaunch2015.eventbrite.com.

ABOUT SAMUEL ADAMS AND THE BOSTON BEER COMPANY
The Boston Beer Company began in 1984 with a generations-old family recipe that Founder and Brewer Jim Koch uncovered in his father’s attic. Inspired and unafraid to challenge conventional thinking about beer, Jim brought the recipe to life in his kitchen. Pleased with the results of his work, Jim decided to sample his beer with bars in Boston in the hopes that drinkers would appreciate the complex, full-flavored beer he brewed fresh in America. That beer was aptly named Samuel Adams Boston Lager, in recognition of one of our nation's great founding fathers, a man of independent mind and spirit. Little did Jim know at the time, Samuel Adams Boston Lager would soon become a catalyst of the American craft beer revolution.

Today, The Boston Beer Company brews more than 60 styles of beer. It relentlessly pursues the development of new styles and the perfection of classic beers by searching the world for the finest ingredients. Using the traditional four vessel brewing process, the Company often takes extra steps like dry-hopping, barrel-aging and a secondary fermentation known as krausening. The Company has also pioneered another revolution, the 'extreme beer' movement, where it seeks to challenge drinker's perceptions of what beer can be. The Boston Beer Company has been committed to elevating the image of American craft beer by entering festivals and competitions around the globe, and is one of world’s most awarded breweries at international beer competitions. As an independent company, brewing quality beer remains its primary focus. Although Samuel Adams beer is America's leading craft beer, it accounts for only one percent of the U.S. beer market. The Boston Beer Company will continue its independently-minded quest to brew great beer and to advocate for the growth of craft beer across America. For more information, please visit www.samueladams.com.

ABOUT THE SAMUEL ADAMS BARREL ROOM COLLECTION:
The Samuel Adams Barrel Room Collection is a collection of barrel-aged beers inspired by Belgian brews and their approach to blending, aging and conditioning beers for wild and flavorful results.  For this collection, the brewers at Samuel Adams developed a unique ale called Kosmic Mother Funk, or KMF. KMF is the soul of these beers and is blended into each at different levels. It's KMF that adds a whole new spectrum of flavors to the beer from earthy and spicy to floral and sweet.  KMF is aged in Hungarian oak tuns for up to 12 months. The tuns began their second life for aging KMF when they were disassembled by coopers (barrel makers) in Portugal, shipped to the Boston Brewery and reassembled by hand in the brewery’s Barrel Room by the same Portuguese coopers. Aging in wood imparts a subtly sweet, toasty note to each beer, and allows a small amount of oxygen to slowly seep into each brew for smoothness. Samuel Adams Barrel Room Collection brews include Samuel Adams American Kriek, Samuel Adams New World, Samuel Adams Stony Brook Red, Samuel Adams Thirteenth Hour, and Samuel Adams Tetravis.  The styles in the Samuel Adams Barrel Room Collection are packaged in 750mL cork finished bottles.

“Pop Gun Pilsner is the session beer I’m most excited about,” said Kushal Hall, Speakeasy’s Director of Brewing Operations. "It’s already an employee favorite because it tastes like beer in the best way possible. Not beer like macro lagers, but like historic Pilsners, when they originally took over the World.”

Pop Gun Pilsner will ship to distributors in the San Francisco Bay Area during the month of September, then rollout to key markets and Speakeasy’s full distribution footprint this fall. If you can’t wait to get a taste, visit Speakeasy’s San Francisco Tap Room on Friday, September 4th, for the Pop Gun Pilsner Release Party

     About Speakeasy Ales & Lagers

In 1997 a wily band of bootleggers led by homebrewer Forest Gray were inspired to bring their exceptional brews from the underground to the masses, defiantly producing small batches of beer in a secret warehouse in San Francisco. Starting with a single, iconic beer, Prohibition Ale, Speakeasy now brews a wide array of acclaimed beers including Big Daddy IPA, Payback Porter, Double Daddy, Scarface Imperial Stout and many more, which are distributed across the entire West Coast and other major U.S. markets.

About the Session 47 Series

The Session 47 Series is a new lineup of low alcohol, yet flavorful session beers, created by Speakeasy Ales & Lagers. Releasing beer in cans is a new venture for Speakeasy, and will be exclusive to the Session 47 Series. The series was launched In May of 2015 with the release of Baby Daddy Session IPA, followed by Suds Session Ale in July. Pop Gun Pilsner is the latest beer in the series.
