Ninkasi Brewing Hop Cooler Joins Flagship Series

EUGENE, Ore.—July 21, 2016—Ninkasi Brewing Company announces Hop Cooler Citrus IPA to join its year-round Flagship Series. Starting August 22, Hop Cooler will be available in 12oz. 6-packs, 22oz. bottles, and on-draft across the brewery’s distribution territory.

Hop Cooler made its debut this past January as part of Ninkasi’s Special Release Series. “We worked hard on this recipe to craft a super juicy beer,” explains Jamie Floyd, Ninkasi founding brewer and co-founder. “Combining four powerhouse hops and real orange and tangerine peel, we were able to achieve an IPA that perfectly accomplishes what we set out to do; like many of our fans, I can’t stop ordering it.”

Brewed with sweet orange and tangerine peel, Hop Cooler is a flavorful balance of juicy citrus and an assertive hop bitterness. “This one’s gorgeous in terms of execution,” says John Holl, All About Beer editor. “The core hop bitterness steers things, but quickly opens up into expansive layers of grassy, dense citrus: Orange peel, pulpy grapefruit, sweet lemon.”

To promote the release of Hop Cooler to a year-round offering, Ninkasi introduces an exclusive Hop Cooler tap handle featured wherever the beer will be poured on-draft.

Hop Cooler joins Ninkasi’s Flagship Series as its eighth year-round beer. “The Flagship Series offers a full spectrum of beers for all beer drinkers to enjoy,” says Floyd. Included in the Flagship Series lineup are Total Domination IPA, Easy Way IPA, Dawn of the Red IPA, Tricerahops Double IPA, Oatis Oatmeal Stout, Vanilla Oatis Oatmeal Stout, and Helles Belles Lager.

Snag a taste of Hop Cooler Citrus IPA before it hits the market at the Pre-Release Party, July 23 from 12-10pm at the Ninkasi Tasting Room (272 Van Buren St., Eugene, OR). Live music starts at 6pm.

Seattle, WA – The sound of heavy metal can be heard within the walls of the Ghostfish Brewery and we’re not talking about screeching guitars and booming drums. We’re talking about gold, silver and bronze medals! Ghostfish Brewing Company recently learned that three of their beers received medals at the 2016 U.S. Open Beer Championship within the Gluten-Free Beer category.

Ghostfish Grapefruit IPA received the prestigious gold medal; Kai Dog Red IPA was awarded the silver medal and the 1st Anniversary Russian Imperial Stout won the bronze medal.

“Sweeping the gluten-free beer category feels really good,” stated co-owner and Director of Sales & Marketing Brian Thiel. “We aim to produce the highest quality beers utilizing the best gluten-free ingredients. These awards mean as much to our organization as they do to the suppliers of our gluten- free malted grains. They allow us to continue pushing the boundaries of beer!”

Grapefruit IPA is a year-round offering from Ghostfish and is available in draft and 12oz cans. Kai Dog Red IPA is the brewery’s first seasonal packaged beer available in draft and 22oz bottles. The 1st Anniversary Russian Imperial Stout is a beer that was released to commemorate the brewery’s successful first year of business. This limited release packaged beer is available in 22oz bottles.

“There’s nothing easy about making beer the way we do,” said Brewmaster & co-owner Jason Yerger. “A huge victory like this is proof positive that the hard work we put in is absolutely worth it.”

The Couve Collects Ten Medals from Washington's Premiere Beer Awards

There are over 300 licensed breweries now operating in the State of Washington. Each summer, the Washington Brewers Guild assembles those breweries for a festival and awards event at Marymoor Park in Redmond, WA for the Washington Beer Awards.

Three beers are awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze medals in each of over 40 different style categories. On Saturday, June 18th the 2016 winners were announced.

This year, Vancouver, WA had it's largest ever representation at the event. The burgeoning beer scene in Southwest Washington showcased the region's quality by bringing home a total of 10 medals from four different breweries.

Vancouver's winning breweries and beers:

Fortside snatched up two medals. The nearly one-year-old brewery brought home GOLD for Cocoa-Fied Imperial Stout and SILVER for Barrel-Fied Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. These are the first medals for Fortside Brewing - a new brewery that is already accomplishing the mission it set out on - "to make Southwest Washington #BEERSTRONG".

If you've visited Ghost Runners Brewery, you know what they're all about - medals. You'll find medals hanging from the walls and even served up with your pint. But the medals you'll find strewn about their tables are for participation in their other passion - distance running. This medal isn't likely to be available for you to fondle while you sip a 5K IPA or Hellacious Repeats IIPA. Ghost Runners brought home SILVER for their Phantom Rojo in the Imperial Red Ale category.

The tribe at Heathen took in the most medals among Vancouver breweries. You can find these award-winners on tap at their Feral Public House in downtown Vancouver - a pub that celebrated it's one year anniversary on July 15th. Heathen was awarded GOLD for Absolution Kolsch, GOLD for Vantucky Pale, SILVER for Highland Charge Wee Heavy and SILVER for Mighty Craic Irish Red. Heathen also snatched up some North American Beer Awards medals in Boise last month.

Just as these guys were coming down off the high of their World Beer Cup medal in April, they've collected 3 more accolades at the Washington Beer Awards. Of course, Grimlock Rye Porter - the World Beer Cup Silver Award Winner - took GOLD in the Rye Beer category. Loowit grabbed a second GOLD for Two-Sixteen Red Ale along with SILVER for Flawless Victory IPA.
