Ninkasi Brewing Brings Back Beer Run IPA

Courtesy of Ninkasi Brewing Co
Beer Run IPA Available In Bottles and On Draft, May Through Sept., 2017
EUGENE, Ore.—April 27, 2017Based in the heart of Track Town, U.S.A., Ninkasi Brewing Company returns Beer Run IPA to its Special Release Series. Available May through Sept. in 22-ounce bottles, on-draft, and for the first time in 12-ounce 6-packs, this IPA is crafted specifically with runners in mind marrying a rich malt complexity with a clean, tropical hop profile.

Originally debuted in 2016, the recipe for Beer Run IPA was developed with the help of runners across the country. Before officially released to the public, a test batch of Beer Run IPA was brewed and featured at more than 25 community running events. Participants were asked to provide feedback on all aspects of the beer including taste and aroma. Ninkasi’s brewing team gathered that feedback and used it to craft the final Beer Run IPA recipe. Later in the year, the brewery partnered with nonprofit, TrackTown USA, to become the official beer of TrackTown USA.

“The momentum behind this beer is humbling,” says Jamie Floyd, Ninkasi co-founder and founding brewer. “From elite and Olympic-level competitors to those who simply like to get out and explore local trails, it’s exciting to see all kinds of runners enjoying a beer we made just for them. This beer even inspired me to get back into running.”

“The Ninkasi team really did a phenomenal job sculpting a beer that fits every level of running,” says two-time Olympian Andrew Wheating of Oregon Track Club Elite and Ninkasi Team Total Domination member.

At 7.3% ABV and 80 IBUs, this IPA features hints of cherry, tropical fruit and spice paired with a bright, clean, bitter finish, and an earthy, tropical and juicy hop profile.

Beer Run IPA can be found on the shelf and on-draft starting May 1, 2017. To track some down, visit the Ninkasi Beer Finder.

Maiden the Shade Returns to Ninkasi’s Seasonal Release Series, May 1, 2017
EUGENE, Ore.—April 18, 2017Ninkasi Brewing Company unveils a new look for its summer seasonal, Maiden the Shade Summer IPA. First brewed in 2009, this IPA boasts an impressively balanced hop profile of eight select varieties paired with a smooth drinkability. Available in 12oz. 6-packs, 22oz. bottles and on-draft, Maiden the Shade returns May through September.

Crafted to celebrate summer and inspired by the annual Oregon Country Fair, a three-day gathering held on 280 acres west of Eugene with music, food and culture, Maiden the Shade quickly became a favorite way to revel in the season. Deemed a Summer IPA, the beer captures a complex hop profile—bold, dank and bursting with floral notes—and an exceptional drinkability. The updated look of this beer follows the evolution of Ninkasi’s branding, displaying a more hand-illustrated design created by its in-house team of artists.

“This beer is rooted in summer festivals and celebrations, so we wanted its packaging to highlight the palette of the season,” says Nick Yarger, Ninkasi’s in-house art director.  “So much of what we do is inspired by our hippie roots with a dash of rock ’n’ roll; this new art draws from the style of American Traditional tattoos, bringing into detail the beauty of the summer maiden.”

“Brewed with eight hop varieties, this Summer IPA has a multi-layer hop complexity that is bold, floral and flavorful,” explains Ninkasi founding brewer and co-founder, Jamie Floyd. “Paired with flaked barley, this beer has a smooth drinkability, perfect for pairing with outdoor festivals or any outside gathering.”

Ninkasi Brewing Brings Back Believer Double Red Ale to Benefit Three National Non-profit organizations

Courtesy of Ninkasi Brewing
EUGENE, Ore.—Dec. 13, 2016—Back by popular demand, independent Oregon craft brewer Ninkasi Brewing Company announces the return of Believer Double Red Ale to its Seasonal Release Series available Dec. 2016 through April 2017. In partnership with the brewery’s Beer is Love donations program, a portion of all Believer sales will go to three national non-profits: Conscious Alliance, Team River Runner and Women Who Code.

Established in 2012, Ninkasi’s Beer is Love program offers beer donations to registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations throughout each of the 14 states where Ninkasi beer is sold. The program supports non-profits doing work in five core categories: women, equality, recreation, the environment, and arts and music. Since inception, Beer is Love has worked with more than 800 organizations. “It is an honor to partner with great organizations throughout every community where we sell our beer,” says Emilie Hartvig, national donations manager for Ninkasi and its Beer is Love program.

Originally released as a winter seasonal in 2006, Ninkasi co-founders Jamie Floyd and Nikos Ridge brewed Believer Double Red Ale as a way to thank those who believed in their mission: to start a craft brewery dedicated to community. It is a natural fit for the brewery to commit the sales of Believer to organizations doing good work.

Believer returns to the shelf in 12 and 22-ounce bottles and on-draft later this month through April 2017. Ninkasi will donate $1 per case and $7 per keg of Believer sold to three non-profit organizations who exemplify the foundation of Beer is Love. “We are thrilled to bring back Believer and support organizations who are doing amazing work to support women in tech, recreation for veterans, and communities in crisis through arts and music,” explains Hartvig.

Conscious Alliance (www.consciousalliance.org)
Based in Boulder, Colo., Conscious Alliance is a national organization supporting communities in crisis. The organization operates through a three-tier approach: emergency food relief to communities across the United States; empowerment programs for youth in impoverished regions of the country; and nutrition, exercise and gardening education for youth in economically isolated Native American reservations. Conscious Alliance operates ongoing grassroots food collection and hunger awareness programs by organizing food drives at concerts and music events. The donations collected benefit local food pantries nationwide and economically isolated Native American reservations.

“We are thrilled to partner with Ninkasi and share Believer with Conscious Alliance’s supporters nationwide,” said Justin Levy, executive director of Conscious Alliance. “As an organization with a mission to empower communities through music, art and action, it’s a natural fit for us to collaborate on this campaign that helps give back to our communities."

Team River Runner (ww.teamriverrunner.org
Team River Runner is a volunteer-driven, national nonprofit organization offering wounded and disabled veterans an opportunity to regain independence with an adventurous, adaptive paddle sports program. Team River Runner promotes camaraderie and teamwork as veterans problem-solve and learn paddling techniques in pools, lakes and whitewater rivers.

“The Team River Runner family is thrilled Ninkasi has selected us for the upcoming Believer release,” says Team River Runner executive director, Joe Mornini. “It takes the collective efforts of organizations and companies to create positive energy; we know the added support of Ninkasi will help increase awareness of our program.”

Women Who Code (www.womenwhocode.com)
Women Who Code is an international non-profit dedicated to inspiring women to excel in technology careers. The organization is building a world where women are proportionally representative as technical leaders, executives, founders, VCs, board members and software engineers. Women Who Code has executed more than 4,200 free events around the world, garnered a membership exceeding 80,000, and has a presence in 20 countries.

"Women Who Code is proud to be partnering with Ninkasi, and we applaud them for their dedication to helping our cause of building a more diverse, inclusive, and dynamic technology industry around the world,” explains Jennifer Tacheff, Women Who Code VP of business development.

Voting Opens January 2017!
The three benefitting organizations will have the opportunity to engage their followers by asking for their vote on Ninkasi’s Facebook page and Beer is Love website. Votes will be totaled at the end of the campaign in April 2017 and will determine how the donation pool will be allocated among the three organizations. Each organization will receive a minimum donation of $5,000 with the final donation pot divided based on number of votes and total Believer sales: first place receives 50 percent, second receives 30 percent, and third receives 20 percent. To vote, visit www.facebook.com/ninkasibrewing or www.beerislove.com between Jan. 1, 2017 and April 30, 2017.

Ninksai Brewing Unveils New Sleigh'r Packaging

Courtesy of Ninkasi Brewing Co
EUGENE, Ore.—Aug. 24, 2016—Ninkasi Brewing Company, an independent craft brewery based in Eugene, Oregon, unveils a brand-new look for its popular winter seasonal, Sleigh’r. Brewed with Alt yeast and paired with a smooth, rich profile, Sleigh’r returns to the shelf this September. New branding will roll out across the brewery’s distribution territory on all Sleigh’r packaging including 12 and 22-ounce bottles.

First joining Ninkasi’s seasonal lineup in 2009, this Winter Ale quickly garnered a cult-like following. “Sleigh’r has always been one of my favorite beers,” says Jamie Floyd, Ninkasi founding brewer and co-founder. “I love the way the Alt yeast interplays with the dark malts, giving way to a smooth, rich taste.” Derived from the German Altbier style, this Winter Ale is fermented at colder temperatures, giving it a crisp, lager-like profile. Complemented by the use of rich, dark malts, this beer is deceptively easy to drink.

“Following suit of our other rebrands announced this year, we’re excited to give Sleigh’r an updated look,” says Floyd. Inspired by a day shredding the mountain, the artwork features a sled scorching through the snow with the shadow of a rider throwing up the heavy metal hand. “As a snowboarder, the story this art tells brings me back to the mountain; it embodies the adventurous and imaginative side of the colder months.”

Sleigh’r Stats
Seize the season with Sleigh'r. Layers of deeply toasted malt are balanced by just enough hop bitterness to make it deceivingly drinkable. Paired with a dry finish, Sleigh’r is anything but your typical winter brew.
        Style: Winter Ale
        Series: Seasonal Release Series
        Available: Sept. – Oct.
        ABV: 7.2%
        IBU: 60
Malt: 2-Row Pale, Crystal, Munich, Carahell, Roasted Barley, Chocolate
        Hops: Nugget
        Packaging: 12 & 22oz. bottles, On-draft
Distribution: Alaska; Alberta; Arizona; California; D.C.; Colorado; Idaho; Maryland; Nevada; New York; Oregon; Texas; Utah; Washington; Vancouver, British Columbia
Tasting Notes: An Alt ferments with Ale yeast at colder lagering temperatures. This effect gives Alts a more refined, crisp lager-like flavor than traditional ales. This beer has been “Ninkasified,” raising the ABV and IBUs. Sleigh'r has a deep, toasted malt flavor that finishes dry and balanced.

Ninkasi Brewing Hop Cooler Joins Flagship Series

Courtesy of Ninkasi Brewing Co
EUGENE, Ore.—July 21, 2016—Ninkasi Brewing Company announces Hop Cooler Citrus IPA to join its year-round Flagship Series. Starting August 22, Hop Cooler will be available in 12oz. 6-packs, 22oz. bottles, and on-draft across the brewery’s distribution territory.

Hop Cooler made its debut this past January as part of Ninkasi’s Special Release Series. “We worked hard on this recipe to craft a super juicy beer,” explains Jamie Floyd, Ninkasi founding brewer and co-founder. “Combining four powerhouse hops and real orange and tangerine peel, we were able to achieve an IPA that perfectly accomplishes what we set out to do; like many of our fans, I can’t stop ordering it.”

Brewed with sweet orange and tangerine peel, Hop Cooler is a flavorful balance of juicy citrus and an assertive hop bitterness. “This one’s gorgeous in terms of execution,” says John Holl, All About Beer editor. “The core hop bitterness steers things, but quickly opens up into expansive layers of grassy, dense citrus: Orange peel, pulpy grapefruit, sweet lemon.”

To promote the release of Hop Cooler to a year-round offering, Ninkasi introduces an exclusive Hop Cooler tap handle featured wherever the beer will be poured on-draft.

Hop Cooler joins Ninkasi’s Flagship Series as its eighth year-round beer. “The Flagship Series offers a full spectrum of beers for all beer drinkers to enjoy,” says Floyd. Included in the Flagship Series lineup are Total Domination IPA, Easy Way IPA, Dawn of the Red IPA, Tricerahops Double IPA, Oatis Oatmeal Stout, Vanilla Oatis Oatmeal Stout, and Helles Belles Lager.
