Craft Beverage Yakima (CBY) is a unique collection of beer, cider, spirits and wine producers located in the city of Yakima and its surrounding area (gap to gap) dedicated to increasing awareness for the region as producers of high quality artisanal craft beverages.

From our beautiful weather, great location within the Pacific NW, abundance of agricultural products, and now thriving craft beverage industry, this is an exciting time to live and work in Yakima,” said  Meghann Quinn, one of the owners of Bale Breaker Brewing Company and CBY Member.   “More and more people are looking for a farm-to-table (or in our case, farm-to-glass) experience, which is why CBY is committed to showcasing Yakima as the craft beverage destination that it is.”

“The tour map is a great way for us to communicate our message and a fun way to encourage people to safely enjoy and sample many different varieties,” said Phil Cline of Naches Heights Vineyard and CBY President.

Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom Releases Seasonal Favorite, the Cluster Single-Hop IPA

Courtesy of Double Mountain Brewery
Hood River, OR – June 1st, 2016 – To the excitement of many craft beer fans, Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom releases seasonal favorite, the Cluster Single-Hop IPA in bottles for the fourth year. This unique and versatile IPA is currently available on draft and by bottle at the Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom located in downtown Hood River. Cluster can be found throughout the Northwest, British Columbia, and Southern California in early June 2016.

“It’s fun to put cluster hops in the limelight. They show off their diversity and depth.  At the end of a crazy day, this beer compliments a wind down exceptionally well. I’ll drink to that.”-Brewer, Matt Coughlin

Cluster
Single-Hop IPA
7.3% ABV, 85 BU

Courtesy of Double Mountain Brewery
Description: The oft forgotten Cluster hop was the dominant hop in the US brewing industry for centuries.  With this single hop IPA, we’re putting it in the spotlight.  Clusters were added at every stage of the brewing process, allowing a good taste of the complexity and versatility of this hop.  A more delicate floral note at the top leads you deeper in to a grove of pineapple and orange, and a dewy herbal character follows closely behind.  It glows like an early summer sunset, has a clean bitterness and dried out nicely, making it highly drinkable.

About Double Mountain Brewery and Taproom: Double Mountain Brewery and Taproom was established in 2007 in the heart of downtown Hood River, OR. Double Mountain opened with a clear mission: make great beer for craft beer fans. Double Mountain’s unique location lends to not only using pure and clean glacial water for their beers, but they also take advantage of regionally grown hops. Double Mountain’s long-aged beers deliver maximum flavor and character. They can be found on tap and in bottles throughout the Pacific Northwest, Southern California, and will be available in their Portland, OR location in the South East Woodstock neighborhood upon opening in July 2016. Portland, Ore. (June 2, 2016) - HOTLIPS Pizza and Everybody’s Brewing have joined forces to produce a special IPA to celebrate Pride in the month of June. HOTLIPS employees took part in the brewing process, making a trip to Everybody’s Brewing in White Salmon, Washington, to participate, hands-on.
The result of the collaboration is an IPA with a robust nose, full of tropical fruit and mango flavors with a clean finish. It’s loaded with Masaic and Mandarina Bavaria hops, and is bright yellow with an orange tint. This beer weighs in at 6.7% ABV, with 75 IBUs.

“We’re lucky to have such a friendly, cooperative beer and food community. Our crew was welcomed warmly and included in each step of the process at Everybody’s Brewing,” says HOTLIPS Pizza’s Beverage Coordinator, Emily Matthews. “We learned a lot about how beer is brewed from start to finish, and were included in the process from grinding the grain to adding the hops and even cleaning out the tanks. It was a great day, and we have a great beer to show for it!”

Timed to be available throughout the month of June, the PrIdePA is symbolic of the unity and equality that are honored with the annual LGBT Pride celebration. This brew is on tap at all six HOTLIPS Pizza locations in the Portland area, as well as at Everybodys’ Brewing in White Salmon, Washington. It will also be featured at the Portland Beer Week/HOTLIPS Block Party on June 18th at HOTLIPS on SE 22nd & Hawthorne.

“We really try to embrace what the name ‘Everybody's Brewing’ means,” says brewery owner Doug Ellenberger. “We think beer is a fantastic way to bring people together, so we were happy to have the HOTLIPS staff come out and lend a hand in brewing this IPA with us. Ghostfish Brewing Expands Capacity and Distribution

Courtesy of Ghostfish Brewing Co
Seattle, WA – Ghostfish Brewing Company recently signed with three distribution companies (The Odom Corporation, Marine View Beverage, and Sound Beverage Distributors) to distribute its award winning ales throughout Western Washington. These three companies collaborate as members of the Great Artisan Beverages Company (GAB). GAB is a wholesaler network covering multiple states with a vision to market and sell leading craft and specialty beverage products.

Ghostfish Brewing had previously self-distributed throughout specific areas within Western Washington since March 2015.

“Choosing distributors was a task that we didn’t take lightly,” stated co-owner and Director of Sales & Marketing Brian Thiel. “It was extremely important for us to align our business with distributors who could extend our commitment to quality and service while expanding the reach of our products.”

“At Odom and the GAB network we take the partnerships seriously. It’s not just about sales and growth, it is about fit. As an 80 year old business we assume we will be partners 80 years from now and plan accordingly. When the discussion with Ghostfish started we were excited because the product is phenomenal and truly unique. What excited us even more was when we started to understand the passion and mission behind the founders of Ghostfish. Truly great products from great people. Who doesn’t want to be a part of that? Wholesalers have to be more than trucks and boxes. We have to have the best products and people to win. We are proud to represent Ghostfish and our other brewery partners and retailers in the markets we serve,” says Scott Cook, VP of Sales, The Odom Corp.

2015 was a banner year for Ghostfish Brewing Co. Beginning with opening the doors to their business in February, the year saw the release of four packaged beer products; being awarded two GABF® medals; and building a solid retail account base of over 200 customers. These milestones prepared the brewery for a larger distribution stage.

In preparation of expanding its distribution network, Ghostfish Brewing added two 30 BBL fermentation tanks in the beginning of 2016. In order to meet increased demand and to ensure the quality of the beer remains top priority, Ghostfish Brewing plans to add two 60 BBL fermentation tanks by the end of 2016. The increased capacity will position the brewery for further distribution throughout Washington and surrounding states.

New Belgium’s Fat Tire & Friends Collabeeration Pack Hitting Shelves

Courtsey of New belgium Brewing Co
Ft. Collins, Colo., June 1, 2016 –The best way to celebrate a birthday is by gathering up your friends. New Belgium’s Fat Tire & Friends Collabeeration mixed pack is starting to hit store shelves. The pack features five of the nation’s best craft breweries, with each taking a turn at reimagining Fat Tire, New Belgium’s flagship beer. This 25th anniversary package is a variety 12-pack, with five variations of the amber ale, including:
  • Allagash Brewing Company (Portland, ME) - Fat Funk Ale features a De Dolle house Belgian yeast strain, which adds pear, banana and spice to Fat Tire’s malty goodness. Expect notes of stone fruit, sweet tart and peppercorn.

  • Avery Brewing (Boulder, Colo.) - Fat Wild Ale focuses on a fruit-forward hop bill featuring Huell Melons and a dose of brett evoking notes of apricot and pineapple.

  • Firestone Walker (Paso Robles, CA) - Fat Hoppy Ale focuses on what Firestone Walker does best – big beautiful hop forward ales. Fat Hoppy has a light malty sweetness initially, with a subtle bitterness in the middle that lingers ever-so-slightly.

  • Hopworks Urban Brewery (Portland, OR) – Fat Sour Apple Ale starts out with a snap of tartness, courtesy of Lactobacillus and apple juice, then gets balanced with Fat Tire-inspired malty sweetness and slight herbal bitterness.

  • Rhinegeist Brewery (Cincinnati, OH) – Fat Pale Ale focuses on two components: Rhinegeist Brewers' malt interpretation of Fat Tire married with the fruity, wild, almost wine like character of Fiction. Together they offer up a slightly bready, biscuity and slightly toast malt backbone combined with fruity Southern Hemisphere hops and abundant fruity esters from the strain of Belgian yeast that Rhinegeist used.
A video with interviews from the brewers involved can be found here - http://bit.ly/25ihdVY.

Long-time draft offering now available in cans nationwide

Longmont, CO & Brevard, NC & Austin, TX - Oskar Blues Brewery, the brewery that launched the craft beer-in-a-can apocalypse in 2002, announces the national launch of an AmeriCAN take on the Belgian Classic Wit, Priscilla White Wit Wheat. It's a Belgian White, Belgian Wit, Belgian Wheat...it's a White Wit Wheat (5.2% ABV, 20 IBUs).

The beer, which features orange peel and coriander spice, emanated from the basement blues music legacy Dave McIntyre (18 year Oskar Bluesologist) built at the original Oskar Blues Grill & Brew in Lyons, CO. On draft for over a decade, Priscilla's zesty citrus and light fresh baked bread aromas mix with spicy, fruity fermentation. Light bodied with a subtle savory spice accent and a dry, lightly tart finish you can nearly feel the flicker of the neon and sounds of the King. White Wit Wheat.

"Priscilla is a beer steeped in Oskar Blues' music history," said Chad Melis. "A longtime Oskar Blues favorite, we've decided its time to bring this amped up, electric brew from the basement and to the masses."

Oskar Blues, named "The hottest place to be on a Saturday night in Colorado" by Rolling Stone because of its roots in the Colorado music scene, will brew its first batch of Dale's Pale Ale at their new brewery and taproom in Austin, TX today. The brewery will continue its tradition of soul-savin' live music with a music venue as part of the Austin taproom.

Five collaborative Fat Tire riff beers available
 in mixed 12-packs throughout summer

Ft. Collins, Colo., May 31, 2016 - Hopworks Urban Brewery and New Belgium have teamed up to create Fat Sour Apple Ale, a lacto sour ale using Pacific Northwest apples to highlight that green apple snap inherent to the original Fat Tire. The beer will be available alongside four other collaborative versions of Fat Tire in a mixed 12-pack to celebrate New Belgium’s 25th anniversary this summer.

The two brewers have a long history of comradery and mutual respect. When New Belgium decided to celebrate their 25th  anniversary through collaboration, the idea was to look at an American craft classic through the lens of other brewers who have inspired the better beer movement. HUB quickly rose to the top of the list.

"New Belgium and Fat Tire were inspirations for me when I started Hopworks.  Their commitment to the environment and sustainable practices, while producing high-quality, delicious beer is a model we all should embrace," said Christian Ettinger, Brewmaster and Founder of Hopworks. "Fat Tire is one of the classics of craft beer. Smooth, rich and flavorful, Fat Tire helped pave the way for generations of brewers and beers we enjoy today."

For New Belgium the joy was collaborating with brewers they appreciate and admire.

“We’ve got a ton of respect for Christian and everyone over at HUB,” said New Belgium Brewer, Cody Reif. “They have set the standard as to organic and sustainable brewing processes and they make kickass beers. It’s been great fun working together and what they’ve brought to the original Fat highlights the best of the original and takes it to a whole other level.”

In addition to Fat Sour Apple Ale, the mixed 12-pack will feature a beer from Allagash Brewing using a Belgian yeast sourced from the Poperinge region and a touch of the Allagash house Brettanomyces; Avery will focus on a fruitier hop bill also with a dose of brett evoking notes of apricot and pineapple; Firestone Walker is creating a west coast interpretation of Fat Tire with an assertive hop profile and a light lager yeast; and Rhinegeist has transformed Fat Tire into a Belgian XPA, combining a fruity Belgian yeast strain with bready-sweet European and Colorado malts for a beer to please hopheads and wine drinkers alike.

Mixed 12-packs will feature two New Belgium original Fat Tire Amber Ales plus two of each interpretation beer. The beer will release mid-June, prior to New Belgium’s 25th anniversary, officially on June 28th. A party at New Belgium’s new brewery in Asheville on August 27th will celebrate that facility’s grand opening as well as 25 years of brewing innovation and good times.
