Courtesy of Beers Made By Walking

Beers Made By Walking / GABF 2016
Tuesday, Oct. 4 /// 5:30 - 8:30pm
Denver Museum of Nature and Science /// 2001 Colorado Blvd. Denver, CO 80205
$35 /// Tickets Available in Early September

Beers Made By Walking invites brewers to go on nature hikes and make new beers inspired by plants observed on the trail. Each beer is a unique, drinkable portrait of the landscape. We are excited to announce our annual festival will take place at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 5:30-8:30pm MST. Now in its sixth year, the event showcases more than 30 place-based beers to the countless beer lovers that have gathered in Denver for the Great American Beer Festival.

Over 25 of the beers were made specifically for this event by Colorado breweries that have collaborated with us. Each beer is inspired by landscapes in an area of the brewer’s choosing. Brewers have hiked up 14,000 foot mountains, trekked through lush canyons, camped in national parks, and strolled through community gardens to find inspiration. Additionally, Scratch Brewing (Ava, IL) and Fonta Flora (Morganton, NC) will serve a few specialty offerings from their respective portfolios that include beers with foraged ingredients.

Tickets will be available in early September via the Museum’s Facebook page. Visitors will receive special glassware for the event and unlimited access to the beers until they run out.

We are happy to announce that proceeds from the event will benefit the Museum.

Left Hand Brewing Announces Cans for Winter 2016

Courtesy of Left Hand Brewing Co
LONGMONT, CO • June 15, 2016 – Can you believe it? Colorado’s 4th largest brewery, Left Hand Brewing, famous for its pioneering line of Nitro bottles, is debuting cans in 2016! Partnering with one of the leading canning line manufacturers in the world, KHS, Left Hand’s new thirty-head volumetric filler will be arriving early fall. “We are beyond excited to allow our fans the ability to take our beers more places than they can currently. And by working with KHS, it allows us to continue to produce world-class, quality beer,” comments Chris Lennert, COO.

Plans are in motion for three of Left Hand’s beers to be canned in 12oz six packs this coming winter including: 3x GABF Gold Medal winning and 2016 World Beer Cup gold medal winner Fade to Black – a foreign export stout, Extrovert - their new American IPA, and Milk Stout - the brewery’s famous sweet stout. Additional beers, including several new additions, will be available in 2017.

In congruence with the brewery’s commitment to quality, Left Hand has designed a canning line with automated volumetric filling, to ensure low oxygen levels and consistent fill heights. “We’ve built a reputation for quality over the years and wanted to ensure those same standards were built into the design of our canned beer” shares Allison Martz, Project Manager. Left Hand Brewing has broken ground on their future canning space at their 1265 Boston Avenue production facility in Longmont, Colorado. Rollout of Left Hand cans will begin in the fourth quarter with plans to distribute to the brewery’s 36-state footprint.

Oskar Blues B. Stiff & Sons Old Fashioned Soda Pop Announces New Flavors

Courtesy of Oskar Blues &  B. Stiff and Son's Old Fashioned Soda Pop CO
Longmont, CO - B. Stiff and Son's Old Fashioned Soda Pop Company - the kid-friendly branch of the Oskar Blues family tree - is introducing four new flavors of craft soda to their product lineup after years of serving the popular B. Stiff & Sons Root Beer, the top-selling local craft Root Beer in Colorado.

The soda was named for Brian Stiff, a Lyons, CO local, bike-riding buddy and father of two, who passed away unexpectedly in February 2012. A portion of soda proceeds continue to provide support for the Stiff family.

The four new flavors of small-batch sodas include: zingy Ginger Beer, citrusy sweet Orange Cream, redonkulously smooth Cream Soda, and sweet-and-tart Black Cherry - old-school flavors that the B. Stiff wizards reinvented with their own creative twists. The original Root Beer recipe is revamped as well, with a 20% reduction in sugar - a change made in response to root-beer loving consumer feedback. All B. Stiff & Sons products are gluten free and caffeine free.

"After years of serving our popular, home-brewed root beer in Oskar Blues restaurants, expanding the flavors and offering it with the advantages of the can package is something unique in craft soda," said Sales Manager Geoff Hess.

B. Stiff & Sons is proud to offer these new flavors at top independent retailers throughout Colorado, Wyoming, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia; as well as at multiple large grocery retailers starting April 1st. The full line-up will remain available at all Oskar Blues restaurant locations; Oskar Blues Home Made Liquids and Solids, Grill & Brew, CHUBurger, CyclHOPS and the new Denver, CO RiNo locations of CHUBurger and Hotbox Roasters Coffee Shop set to open in June of 2016.

"We're projecting approximately 643% growth in 2016 based on current success and enthusiasm," said Hess. "We've begun expansion in our brewing facility that will allow us to continue to be inventive with new creations."

Ten FIDY From Oskar Blues returns For Fall

Courtesy of Oskar Blues Brewery
Brevard, NC -- Oskar Blues Brewery's award-winning Imperial Stout, Ten FIDY, makes its return to shelves and watering holes just in time for cool autumn temps and offers an alternative to the conventional varietals. Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is massively flavorful brew that is unlike any seasonal you'll find this fall.

"Its warmth makes this seasonal beer an ideal fall brew with its hearty flavor and initial sweetness. It's like the hot chocolate of beers. It's definitely a slow sipper-at 10.5% ABV, you don't want to swig these bad boys, but thanks to its thick, velvety feel and punch-in-the-chops hops, you probably won't be able to anyway" - Paste Magazine, 2013

Ten FIDY is an immensely viscous stout loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee underneath a smooth blanket of malt. This brew is constructed with colossal amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. With 98 IBUs, you won't forget you're drinking a burly beer.

"The brewing process for Ten FIDY is as unique as the stout beer itself. We have to mash-in two batches just to get one kettle filled because we only take the most concentrated wort from each mash. It's a labor intensive process, but this is part of how we make Ten FIDY so unique, rich, and complex," says Oskar Blues NC Operations Manager, Noah Tuttle.

Here's what others are have to say about Ten FIDY:

*   "The biggest, baddest, boldest beer in a can" Celebrator Beer News
*   "2008 Beer of the Year" The Denver Post
*   "100 Rating" Ratebeer.com
*   "A-Rating" Beeradvocate.com
*   Gold Medal - 2010 and 2012 World Beer Championships
*   "Top 51 Beers" 2011 Beer Magazine
*   "Shit's good" Randy Bayless, Oskar Blues Packaging Tech

Ten FIDY is sold in 4-packs of 12-ounce CANS and is on shelves now in all 44 states where Oskar Blues is sold, as well as on draft at craft beer retailers, growler fill shops, restaurant, bars and more. Get it while you CAN, until it's gone. It's autumn, but that doesn't mean you can't go big, go bold, go FIDY.
