3rd Annual LagerFest Return July 11th

Courtesy of  the Lager Fest
Portland, OR 6/29/2015 - The 3rd annual LagerFest, a benefit for XRay.fm takes over the White Owl Social Club's spacious bar and back patio on Saturday July 11th with the largest selection of lagers in the state, perhaps the country!

The White Owl is excited to host the third annual giant patio party that celebrates the almighty but often overlooked LAGER! 50+  international and craft brews will be out on the legendary White Owl patio, and the beers will be flowing harder than Aesop Rock while riding the back of Damian Lillard dunking over Dwight Howard from the top Multinomah Falls during a Red Fang versus Lord Dying heavy metal deathmatch battle royale extravaganza!

Ok maybe not that hard, but we mean business! We spent a lot of careful time cherry picking lagers from all over the industry, and we took great pains to fill the line up with a variety of colors and flavors that span the entire Lager horizon! That ended up being a lot of beer, and it’s not going to drink itself, so check out the lineup, get in the shade with us, put up your feet and enjoy these tasty Lager brews!!

Terminal Gravity Brewing Releasing Wallowa Lake Lager

Courtesy of Terminal Gravity Brewing
Enterprise, OR- May 8, 2015 - Terminal Gravity is happy to announce the seasonal release of Wallowa Lake Lager.  Following a successful, but limited small batch release in the spring of 2014, TG is set to make this pre-prohibition style pilsner more available throughout the late spring and summer season.

When German Immigrants brewed the first pilsners in America, ingredients including two-row barley and Bavarian hops were not readily available.  A more practical option was American barley (six-row) and harsh American hops.  These ingredients became the backbone of their lager beers.  Additionally, these brewers discovered that corn mellowed the harsh flavors brought on by American barely, while simultaneously making the beer clean and bright.

Courtesy of Terminal Gravity Brewing
The addition of corn to the malt bill actually provides for a unique flavor profile that mutually benefits an assertive, but not aggressive hop presence.  Some have called this style of beer “Uniquely American”.

Wallowa Lake Lager is a session-able beer, (4.75 ABV) perfect for a summer patio sit.  At 37 IBU’s, Ultra and Crystal hops provide for an unexpected crisp bitterness.  It’s named after one of Wallowa County’s most beautiful landmarks, Wallowa Lake.

Available in Portland, Eugene, Bend and surrounding Oregon markets; Wallowa Lake Lager will be released in ½ bbl kegs.

A release party is set for Thursday May 14th, 2015 at The White Owl Social Club from 5-8 PM.

Founded in 1997, Terminal Gravity Brewing Company sits in the foothills of the Wallowa Mountains in Enterprise, Oregon.  TG first entered the Oregon beer market with its TG IPA.  Often referred to as the “old standard” in today’s market, TG IPA quickly changed the beer scene in Oregon in the late 90’s.  With a wide selection of bottled beers, draught varieties, and seasonal specialties, Terminal Gravity Brewing distributes its beer in Oregon, Washington and Idaho, and recently expanded its market to Hawaii.

TG’s brewers work on an 18 bbl. system and brew a humble 6,000 barrels of beer per year.  For more information please connect with us on social media!

Press Release:
Tuesday, March 31st 2015 -

With the 2015 Craft Brewers Conference being held in Portland this year, Breakside Brewery is excited to announce daily specials at their production brewery in Milwaukie, OR and a lineup of outside events and collaborations with some of the best local and national breweries in the business.

Beginning Monday April 13 through Saturday April 18 Breakside Brewery's Milwaukie Tap Room & Brewery will be open extended hours from 11am to 8pm and will be holding brewery tours all day. We will have Food Trucks on site each day, and in an effort to reciprocate all of the generosity we’ve received over the years at other events, we’ll be providing loads of complimentary snacks and (of course) beer to CBC badgeholders. We have curated a special tap list for the week, which includes many of special barrel-aged, mixed culture, and library beers that we want to share with our friends.
A year in the works, Breakside Brewery has collaborated with six of their favorite up-and-coming and established breweries from across the country with the amazing results being unveiled at Craft Brewers Conference afterparties around Portland. If your attending the conference you can find Breakside pouring at the Opening Reception and our new Honey IPA collaboration with NoDa Brewing at the Build A Better Beer Dinner seminar on Friday April 17th.

Braggadocio (with Stone Brewing Co.)
We are honored to present this collaboration beer, brewed with our good friends from Stone Brewing Company. We're huge admirers of Stone's flavor-forward, aggressive beers, especially some of their stouts and porters. When we sat down to design a beer together, it was a no-brainer for us to brew this high gravity, London-style porter with them and age it in Bourbon barrels for five months. The result is a smooth, rich brew that has notes of marshmallow, coffee, toffee, and nougat.

Braggadocio is the sort of boastful, self-congratulation that the Stone guys have come to be known for. So it is with a tip of the hat to them and their humble arrogance that we name and offer this indisputably delicious beer.

Bonfire Walk With Me (with Bonfire Brewing)
barrel-fermented sour red ale made with a mix of wild yeast and bacteria-- this collaboration beer with Bonfire Brewing out of Colorado was modeled after English Old Ales that had an acidic and funky note to them from the presence of Brettanomyces and souring microorganisms. ours bridges the gap between the sour red ales of West Belgium and the rich malty stock ales of the UK. notes of chery, lemon zest, oak, and toffee.
Nice Pear (with Iron Goat Brewing)CBC collaboration beer made with our friends in Spokane, WA at Iron Goat Brewing. this is a gin-barrel aged Belgian golden ale made with lemon peel and aged on pears
Imperial Honey IPA (with NoDa Brewing)we teamed up with NoDa Brewing out of Charlotte to make this innovative double IPA. we combined Oregon adn North Carolina honey to balance hop bitterness and focused on using a number of varietals that were relatively new to us, including Hallertau Blanc and Galaxy. the final beer is vinous, dank, fruity, and lightly tropical in its hop flavor.

Session Black IPA (with Pinthouse Pizza)a collaboration beer brewed with Pinthouse Pizza, an awesome brewery from Austin, TX. the Pinthouse guys make some of the best hoppy beers in the country, and we decided to put our minds together to create an easy drinking black IPA that uses a host of experimental hopping techniques and delicious new hop varietals like Mosaic, Citra and Calypso.

Multiculture Ale
(with Elliot Bay Brewing)
an inspiration of multiple traditional styles including Marzen and Heller bock  ABV 6.9  IBU 40  Mixed culture of California yeast and Belgian Ardennes yeast.  European and American hops.

New School Beer Presents:Class of 2014 New Portland Breweries Night

wosc_classof2014beers_poster.jpg
The New School (newschoolbeer.com) presents -
On Friday April 3rd the Class of 2014 new Portland Breweries Night gathers at the White Owl Social Club to celebrate a successful graduating class with a unique collaboration beer spun off into five different versions. Ex Novo Brewing, Baerlic Brewing, Fat Head’s Brewing, Stormbreaker Brewing and Royale Brewing Co. all got together and decided to brew a basic Belgian/Saison style golden ale with the same yeast Wyeast 3726, Farmhouse Ale but each brewer would brew their own unique version with a special ingredient of their choice.

2014 Collab Pic.jpg

The inaugural batch was brewed at Ex Novo Brewing where Joel Gregory helped spearhead the collaboration. Nearly all the brewers were able to gather for that first beer and the yeast was then cropped from that initial brew and handed down to each brewer for their beers. On Friday April 3rd from 6-10pm the White Owl Social Club will host all five breweries and all five beers pouring side-by-side on the patio with each brewer also pouring an additional beer from their respective brewery. It’s a great chance to meet the entire new class of Portland breweries at once while trying their stuff out and the unique variations of their collaboration like versions with Meyer Lemon, Jackfruit, Galangal, Tamarind, Coffee and Peppercorns.

Beer List (first beer listed from every brewery is collaboration)

Royale Brewing
the Motivator, a coffee saison brewed with Tettnanger and Meridion hops with Ethiopian Golba cold press coffee from Extracto Coffee Roasters. 5.4% abv, 20 IBUs

Royale Brewing
Tacenda Pilsner, 5.5% abv / 50% Weyermann pilsner malt, tett hops.

Baerlic Brewing
Wildcat Saison with Meyer Lemon: Fruity, tart and slightly funky, Wildcat is our take on a traditional Belgian saison. We added Meyer lemon peel and beechwood smoked malt to give this beer a rich and complex mouthfeel and finish.

Baerlic Brewing
Primeval NW Brown Ale: A NW take on an American Brown Ale. Aromas of evergreen, cocoa & sweet orange dance with biscuit, roast and malty sweetness that finishes dry with bittersweet chocolate and citrus.

Ex Novo Brewing
Jacked Up! Farmhouse: A tart farmhouse ale with 8 gallons of Jackfruit puree. Funky tropical fruit flavors. 7.5% ABV, 9 IBU.

Ex Novo Brewing
The Most Interesting Mexican Lager: Crisp and refreshing, this light lager was brewed with Vienna and Pilsner malts with a hint of flaked corn.  Fermented with Mexican lager yeast, Saaz hops add a delightfully balanced bitterness. 5.5% ABV,  17 IBU.

Stormbreaker
Stormbreaker & Friends
Brewed in collaboration with the class of 2014 (Ex Novo, Baerlic, Fat Heads, & Royale), this saison has aromas of citrus & big spicy ginger from the galangal. Slight sweet & sour flavors from the tamarind give way to a clean, smooth, dry finish. ABV 6.4% IBU 18

Stormbreaker
Triple Double IPA: Achieving a triple double in hoops is impressive, but achieving it in your beer is even better. With ten hop additions of three hop varietals, Mosaic, Citra, and Amarillo, this beer scores on your palate, rebounds in your nose with big aromas of grapefruit citrus and pineapple, and is assisted by the punchy, juicy citrus flavors to balance the slight upfront bitterness and big 8.5% ABV to make this a Rip City slam dunk. ABV 8.5% IBU 90

Fat Head’s
Bier De Mars: Wallonian style farmhouse ale. Brewed with 4 types of peppercorns and a bit of smoked malt, this belgian farmhouse is spicy, earthy and has a light tartness with just a hint of smoke. 7.3% abv 17 ibu

Fat Head’s
Semper FiPA
Our to all who have served in the armed forces, past and present. This IPA is piney and dank with aromas of pineapple and mango from copious amounts of Chinook and Equinox hops!
7.3% abv 80 ibu
