Fort George 3-way Collaboration with Reuben’s Brews & Great Notion Releasing June 2017

Courtesy of Fort George Brewing Co

[Astoria, Oregon] Fort George’s 3-Way IPA has become a signal for the start of summer. Once a year Fort George extends an invitation to two breweries, chosen for their mastery in the art of IPAs. The goal is to come together, exchange knowledge, forge lasting friendships, and along the way create an IPA that everyone is excited to drink. That collaboration is then brewed, packed into a brilliant new 16-ounce can, and sent out for the pure enjoyment of the Pacific Northwest.

This year’s 3-Way IPA collaboration has been in development since last year. The owner/brewers from Reuben’s Brews (Seattle, WA) and Great Notion Brewing (Portland, OR) traveled out to the far-northwest tip of Oregon in early November. As is tradition, guests were treated to the completely unique Astoria experience. While details of that night remain hazy, everyone was up and ready to meet the following morning.

Beta Batches - Courtesy of Fort George Brewing Co
Day two is when the real heavy lifting began. Hidden away among the aging barrels in the Lovell Building at Fort George, all three parties sat down to sample beer and pitch recipe ideas for this year’s 3-Way IPA. The general style was agreed upon: juicy, light in color, juicy & fruit-forward, extra juicy, with oats and wheat for a smooth, juicy mouthfeel. Hop varieties were recommended. Yeast strains were discussed. Each suggestion was offered with a corresponding beer sample. Trays and trays of glassware went back and forth from the Lovell Taproom until the meeting table was an obstacle course of crowlers and cans.

At the end of the day a consensus was reached. Azacca, X331 (now called Strata), Mosaic, and Citra were picked for the hop additions. And with months until the release date, multiple test batches were scheduled utilizing a variety of yeasts. Throughout the Beta IPA test batch process, seven small batches were brewed with hands-on participation from everyone. Copious notes were sent after every batch: subtle adjustments to temperatures, dry-hopping schedules, cuts in malts, can we make it more hoppy, CAN WE MAKE IT MORE JUICY?!? The participation among collaborators was unprecedented, and each batch was a chance to learn, refine, and perfect another pint.

Now it is mid-May and the fermenters are filling. This fruit-forward haze of Azacca, X331, Mosaic, and Citra hops plays on a balanced bassline of malt with a wicked unfiltered keytar solo. 3-Way IPA 2017 is a juicy collaboration that strikes a smooth, electric gold riff on a Vermont style. Look for 3-Way IPA releasing in Astoria for Memorial Day Weekend and throughout the Pacific Northwest beginning June 1st. Join all three collaborators at the following 3-Way IPA release parties:

Silver City Brewery & Punk Rock Band MXPX Announce Collaboration Brew for the Band's 25th Anniversary

Courtesy of Silver City Brewing Co
Celebrating 25 years of loud, fast, left-coast punk rawk, MXPX and Silver City Brewery, both from Bremerton, Washington, have joined forces to commemorate the band's anniversary milestone with an exclusive, signature beer. Named after the band's 2007 hit, "Secret Weapon", the brew is a delicious amber lager brewed in the "left-coast common" style.

Courtesy of MXPX
A super easy-going beer with a full-flavored malt backbone and a clean hop kick on the finish, the recipe is a true collaborative effort between the Silver City brew team and band members Mike, Tom, and Yuri, who were heavily involved in its development, adding their own personal tastes and flavor preferences.

"In our earliest meetings, before we had even settled on a style, we determined two goals," notes brewery PR rep Dan Frantz, "First, the beer had to be a thirst quencher-- hot and sweaty punk rock shows demand a cold and crisp beer with a reasonably light body. Second, the beer still had to be full-flavored. The MXPX band members are true craft beer fans, and tend to enjoy beers that have a solid malt presence, so we incorporated a special blend of seven malts along with some traditional German hops for a crisp finish."

The beer will be distributed throughout Washington State and Northern Idaho, as well as nationally available through an exclusive partnership with Seattle-based Tavour, market leaders in direct-to-door craft beer delivery.

Official release events for the beer will be held at Silver City Brewery's Taproom on May 4th and Seattle's Comet Tavern on May 5th, 6pm-8pm. Both events will feature the band members as "guest bartenders", and will be fun-filled evenings with the chance for fans to meet and greet the band.

These particular events will be beer-release events only (no live performances), as the band is busy gearing up for their official 25th Anniversary concerts to take place July 7th and 8th at the Showbox Market venue in Seattle. "Secret Weapon" beer will be available in 16oz cans at both shows.

Fall Seasonal Selections From Craftbeer.com

Warm Your Palate this Fall with
CraftBeer.com’s Seasonal Selections

America’s Small and Independent Brewers Catapult Fall Seasonals to the Top

Boulder, CO August 25, 2015—With fall upon us, the air will begin getting a bit cooler and crisper. Whether nuzzling into a favorite sweater or picking pumpkins from the patch, CraftBeer.com – the Brewers Association (BA) website for beer lovers – has compiled a list of delectable fall seasonal craft beer choices, each produced by small and independent craft brewers.

“Thanks to its rich harvest, fall is truly one of the most magical times of the year for beer,” said Julia Herz, publisher of CraftBeer.com and Brewers Association craft beer program director.  “Small and independent brewers delight in spicing up their offerings with all the flavorful contributions autumn has to offer.  Without a doubt, these beers are certain to arouse the senses.”

The signature flavors and aromas that make fall seasonals great have led them to become the best-selling among the four seasons, accounting for 20.8% of the total craft volume share in 2014, and continuing to increase in popularity each year. Last year, the volume of craft seasonals sold increased 3.8% compared to the same time period in 2013.

Indulge the autumnal cravings with these vibrant selections that are sure to please:

·         Ale Asylum | Satisfaction Jacksin | Madison, WI
·         Boundary Bay Brewing Co. | Harvest Rye | Bellingham, WA

And don’t forget to find the right food pairings to indulge all the senses and make that favorite seasonal craft beer even tastier.

“As the leaves change, nutty and sweet fall squash will give richness to any dish and provide a great pairing to the roast and spice in many fall seasonals,” said Adam Dulye, executive chef, Brewers Association.  “For notes of acid in your cooking this fall, turn away from summery citrus and explore how pairing apples and pears can really bring out the flavor in craft beer.”

See CraftBeer.com's “Craft Beer Fall Seasonalsfor a complete list of the Brewers Association member breweries’ seasonal craft beer selections and descriptions. To round out your autumn craft beer experience, consider a tour of your local independent brewery.

Fresh To Death Bottle Only Series Coming From Iron Horse Brewing

Iron Horse Brewery Presents: The Fresh-To-Death Bottle Only Series
A seasonal series starting with GARY, an Imperial IPA.

Press Release:
ELLENSBURG, WA  (March 25th, 2015) Iron Horse Brewery is introducing a brand-spankin'-new bottle only beer series entitled Fresh-To-Death.They are kicking-off the series with GARY, an Imperial IPA of insurmountable hoppiness.  Gary is a busy man, but he will make his face available to you from April until June, and then he will be away on some exotic vacation. Gary in a bottle is much like prince albert in a can, except in beer form, and much better. “Gary feels really good on your lips and in your mouth, you should definitely experience this at least once in your life, or more, because it’s good. So why would you limit yourself?”  said Greg Parker, Owner and GM of Iron Horse Brewery.  “Gary made the cut for the Fresh-To-Death track because this beer defines what it means to be ‘fresh-to-death’ which is a term that describes something ‘that is so good it is unexplainable’, according to UrbanDictionary, which is why it is impossible to explain how good it is, obviously.” commented Parker.

Release and Availability
As the first in the Fresh-To-Death series, Iron Horse Brewery will release Gary Imperial IPA exclusively in 22oz glass bottles sometime around the first week of April and it will be available until June. The beer will be released in select markets around Washington state.Following GARY, will be either a Fresh Hop Red or an Imperial Amber or maybe none of those. Quarter 4, however will bring back Cozy Sweater, Iron Horse Brewery’s vanilla milk stout, which had limited production in 2014.

Hoppy and you know it
Gary Imperial IPA is sure to be a charmer, the hops provide a citrus flavor with pine and grapefruit swagger.  It brags a clean malt profile with a honey and grassy flavor which balances the bitterness. “This beer is warm and fuzzy just like Gary; this beer also delivers a strong aroma and a good punch--just like Gary,” said Tyson Read, Head Brewer of Iron Horse Brewery. “This is true, my nose and taste buds confirmed it,”quipped Ross Chalstrom, Interloper of Press Release Quotes.

Iron Horse Brewery Announces the Release of Farmlandia

Courtesy of Iron Horse Brewery
Iron Horse Brewery Announces the Release of Farmlandia, Available in 22oz Bottles and on Draught.
A brand new Farmhouse Ale at 5.5% abv.

Press Release:
ELLENSBURG, WA  (March 24th, 2015)
Iron Horse Brewery is introducing a new seasonal beer called Farmlandia available in draught and 22oz bottles.  You may be asking, “what on earth is a Farmhouse Ale?” To describe this is like trying to describe what it is like to wear a tie and cufflinks with a flannel shirt, or how to drink champagne in a hay field.  If Iron Horse Brewery is good at one thing, that is redefining boundaries and making awesome things happen in your mouth,” said Greg Parker, Owner and GM of Iron Horse Brewery. “This is a pinky-up kind of beer, that will curl your moustache and brighten your eye’s with the glisten of joyous tears,” commented Parker.

Release and Availability
Iron Horse Brewery will release Farmlandia in 20oz bottles around the first week of April and it will be available market-wide through the end of June, in locations including Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho and Alaska shortly thereafter.

Crisp and Fruity
Farmlandia is a wheat beer fermented with Saison yeast.  Saison is french for “spring time in a hay field” which is not true, but it describes that very sensation. A better more exact description of Saison tells us that this beer is: citrusy, spicy, effervescent, bubbly and light-medium bodied. Farmlandia is made with pilsner malt which carries a larger malt and sweet flavor than basic brewers malt. The white wheat gives this beer a light golden color and light body as well as giving the beer a slight haze. Farmlandia has a crisp, clean malt profile and the French Saison yeast provides some spice in the aroma, a light fruitiness,  and crisp and dry mouthfeel. “This is true, my nose and taste buds confirmed it,” quipped Ross Chalstrom, Interloper of Press Release Quotes.

Beer Release Party
Iron Horse Brewery is holding an official beer release party on Friday April 3rd, at [ the pub ]. There will be raffles, flannels, and a touch-the-tractor contest where the winner will receive an 82 dollar IHB gift card and not the tractor as the contest might indicate.

Silver City Brewer - New branding, New packages and New brew house for 2015

Courtesy of Silver City Brewery
Silver City Brewery is proud to announce new branding, new packages and new brew house for 2015

Press Release
Bremerton,Wa -March 4, 2015 - Today Silver City Brewery is excited to announce the expansion of their brewery operations in Bremerton, their fresh new look, and new offerings for 2015. In anticipation of another year of double digit growth, Silver City is set to install a new 35 barrel brew house.  New tanks with 160 barrels of fermentation capacity & 120 barrels of bright beer capacity were added at the start of this year to keep pace with steady growth.
Silver City has been brewing on the same 10 barrel system since its inception in 1996. Having grown to an annual capacity of 9,000 barrels in 2014, Silver City has far outpaced the size of the brew house. The new system will enable the brewery to reduce the number days it brews a week in half while making more beer than ever.
Silver City’s new American made brew house, is being produced by AAA Metal Fabrication out of the Dalles, Oregon. Silver City Brewery owner Scott Houmes had this to say about the new system “We’re excited to work with AAA again. They do quality work and we can’t wait to employ the new system and continue making great beer for our fans.”
While Silver City is getting a new “heart beat” to the brewery, they are proud to present a new look to go along with it.
Silver City worked with Blind Tiger Design out of Seattle over the last year to refresh the look and feel of Silver City’s logo and individual beer brands. Of this, Scott had this to add “We are very proud of our lineage here in Kitsap and the representation of our past that is reflected in those designs. We are equally as excited to present Silver City and our line-up of beers in a new way that brings the “family” together for current and new fans to discover or re-discover our beers.”
In addition to the new designs, Silver City is adding new beers, new packages, and growing their barrel aged program for distribution. First up is the addition of 12oz cans. Ziggy Zoggy Summer Lager was the first venture into cans last summer, which was followed with the new Cold One Pilsner. Next up is the special release of the Official Seattle Beer Week Lager; Sieben Brau set for release next month in April. Flagship and fan favorite Ridgetop Red Ale is set to take lead in the 12oz can line-up next.
