No-Li Brewhouse Releases Crony Your Dads Favorite Beer

CRONY: BREWER TESTED, DAD APPROVED
No-Li Launches Second 6-Pack
Courtesy of No-Li Brewhouse
Spokane, WA…It’s been less than 3 months since No-Li Brewhouse launched its first, mother-loving, craft-beer-for-the-masses 6-pack – Poser.  Because No-Li equally adores fathers and couldn’t bear the thought of any of them wandering the world without a beer to call their own, No-Li has just launched CRONY – your dad’s favorite beer.

“Crony is the culmination of our search to pair robust dark malts with citrusy Northwest hops,” says No-Li’s Brewery Operations Manager, Damon Scott.  “Boo-yah,” adds Head Brewer, Carey Fristoe.

Crony is designed to highlight the unique tropical fruit aromas and piney character of Simcoe hops.  Layer these distinct hops on a smooth malt body and you get a NW Brown Ale with hints of garnet red.

6-packs hit the stores this week and Crony will be tapped at the No-Li pub this Friday (5/8) at 5pm!

Las Vegas Brewery Sin City Releases its First Ever Maibock

This is a bit out of freshpints.com usual Pacific Northwest press release coverage area, but we have personally enjoyed Sin City Brews while visiting Las Vegas on many occasions. So if your out local in Vegas or going to Vegas, check out Sin City Brewing and look for its new Maibock.

LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas craft beer fanatics can experience a never-before-tasted seasonal from Sin City Brewing Co. as the local brewery debuts its first-ever Maibock draft May 5. The Maibock is the latest brew of a series of high-alcohol seasonals Sin City plans to unveil this year and will be available at its locations on Las Vegas Boulevard at Harmon Corner and Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian.

“I’ve noticed that nowadays when people order seasonal beers, they want that extra oomph! Our Maibock is like an amber lager on steroids,” said Sin City’s Master Brewer Rich Johnson. “It is strong, but not hoppy at all. So guests will enjoy a very smooth, malty and balanced beer that packs a punch.”

Sin City’s Maibock is 7.2 percent ABV, 25 IBU, and boasts a beautiful amber hue. Bock beers are stronger versions of classic German lagers, usually brewed for the separate seasons, "Mai" meaning the month of May in German. The Maibock was historically used as a source of nutrition for Bavarian monks during times of fasting. Sin City’s Maibock will be available on tap through June.

Reuben's Brews Ready To Unveil New Brewery And Taproom

Courtesy of Reuben's Brews
SEATTLE, Wash. (May 5, 2015) The wait is finally over. The taproom that RateBeer named 2014 Best Taproom in Washington is getting even better…and bigger!

At noon on Saturday, May 9, Reuben’s Brews will open the doors to its new, larger brewery and taproom at 5010 14th Ave NW! The celebration will include special beers from the cellar, complimentary Reuben’s Brews bottle openers for the first 100 people, brewery tours and more. The Burgerphenia food truck will be onsite as well.

“We’re really excited to show people the new brewery!” said Adam Robbings, co-founder and head brewer of Reuben’s Brews. “We’ve aimed to make the new taproom really comfortable but still open to the wonders of the brewing space. We are excited to brew more styles, add to our line-up with sours and lagers, and expand our barrel-aging program.”

The 4,000 square-foot space, located at 5010 14th Avenue NW, is only two blocks south of the existing brewery and will feature a 15-barrel brewhouse, 30-barrel fermenters and a larger taproom with 24 taps, an outside deck, more seating, and a 10-foot video screen for showing Sounders and Seahawks games and other major sports events. Beer fans will also be able to enjoy Reuben’s seven days a week! The new taproom will be open MondayWednesday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., and ThursdaySunday from noon to 9 p.m.

When Adam, wife Grace and brother-in-law Mike Pfeiffer opened Reuben’s Brews in August 2012, they had five of their beers available in the taproom. Since then Reuben’s has regularly had 12 of their own beers on tap. They quickly became a well-respected brewery and have won more awards for their beers than any other brewery in Washington since opening their doors.

“Keeping our existing brewery as a pilot brewery and barrel house was key to us continuing to be able to brew a wide variety of beers,” said Robbings. “We already have bourbon, whiskey and tequila barrels on their way and sherry and red wine puncheons are ready to start our sour program. We are also really excited to also expand our distribution as at last we have beer for existing and new customers.”

Saturday, May 9 will mark a major milestone for Reuben’s.  Since opening in August 2012, they reached brewing capacity within six months and started searching for expansion spaces exactly two years ago – in May 2013. After a long, difficult search for a suitable space they signed their lease for the new brewery in August 2014, having ordered their new brewhouse four months earlier.  In January 2015 they signed with Click Wholesale Distribution in anticipation of the new brewery coming online to help make their brews more widely available.

The existing taproom will continue to operate on its regular schedule through March 8. Additional information and photos of the construction can be found on the Reuben’s Brews Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

About Reuben’s Brews
Reuben’s Brews is a small, family-owned brewery located in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA. Since we opened in 2012, our beer has been awarded several local, regional, national and international awards. We were a top 10 brewery at the 2014 and 2013 U.S. Open Beer Championships, have won 21 medals at the World Beer Championships, and were runner up Best Small Brewery in the 2013 Washington Beer Awards. It’s been an amazing journey since we opened in 2012, and we expect it to get even busier in 2015 with the addition of our new taproom and production brewery.

2015 Fort George 3-Way IPA Release & Tour

Fort George Brewing has announced the details of its latest version of its super popular 3-Way IPA. The 2015 version is a collaboration between Fort George, Pfriem Family Brewers, and Georgetown Brewing. 3-Way IPA will be available in the Pacific Northwest on draft and 16oz 4-packs starting on May 22nd.

Behind the Scenes of 3-Way IPA 2015
A Fort George Collaboration with Georgetown Brewing And Pfriem Family Brewers

THE COLLABORATION
Preparations for a 3-Way IPA can be intricate, as you may imagine. Where do you begin? How does one approach a 3-Way IPA with a collaborator? With all of the amazing brewers out there, how do you choose? Well, it turns out the first step is to invite them out to dinner.

This year’s collaboration began back in January at the Fort George Indian & IPA Brewer’s Dinner. Manny Chao arrived from Seattle with a keg of Eddie IPL, and Josh Pfriem brought along a Double IPA from Hood River. Jack Harris and Chris Nemlowill (and Beta IPA and Vortex) filled out the table. After five courses of spicy food and hoppy ales, a leisurely tour around Astoria’s nighttime establishments, and a few awkward late night photos in front of “The Pig,” everyone retired for the night in their respective rooms.

Courtesy of Fort George Brewing Co.

The following day - bright and early at 11 am sharp - the recipe meeting commenced behind closed doors in the Lovell Taproom.

Jack: I really like the way you guys make your IPAs.

Manny: Thanks Jack. So, do we shoot for something different, or keep it something West Coast?

Jack: We can make anything you guys want, as long as it’s an IPA.

Potential hop varieties, packed into 8-oz Mason jars, circulated around the table. Aromas were analyzed, ideas were bandied about, and samples were sampled.

“I think we all agree, we want it to be dry, we want it to be aromatic, and we want it to be hoppy,” Manny summarized.

“And bright!” Josh added, diving into the specifics of the hop additions - amounts, times, and temperatures. “A little bit of Citra makes Equinox pop,” he explained.

“Landing in that sweet spot, right around five and a half percent,” Manny continued.

“A 5.7% ABV beer with over four pounds per barrel...you’re going to get a LOT of hops,” Jack noted.

Duly noted.

Courtesy of Fort George Brewing Co.
THIS YEAR’S 3-WAY IPA
From the moment you pop the can, hop aroma hits you right in the nose. Fruit forward, with a crescendo of tropical and citrus flavors - 3-Way IPA presents an ensemble of Simcoe, Meridian, Citra, and Equinox hops. Enjoy a lustrous and lively play across the palate.

Fort George’s 3-Way IPA is a collaboration of craft, a chance to exchange ideas and knowledge with brewers who are doing fantastic things with IPAs. Every summer features a new collaboration, a different recipe, and a unique 16-oz can design, but with the same 3-Way IPA name.

GEORGETOWN
A Seattle craft brewery focused on doing one thing right... draft beer. Started by Roger Bialous and Manny Chao... a couple of beer loving local boys who brewed up a pretty darn tasty beer in the garage (actually it was the back deck, but garage sounded better). Sorry, no brewpub, but they do have a retail shop where you can pick up kegs to go, growlers, and perhaps get a taste of their newest beer before it's released. Or you could be social and get out to your favorite local watering hole. If Georgetown beer is not on tap, let them know and they'll do their best to pester 'em into submission.

PFRIEM
The goals for the brewery were modest: to build a business that was tightly integrated with their family lives, to honor the place they call home, and to create a warm, friendly space where others could experience the creations. The goals for the creations themselves are anything but modest.

Pfriem artisanal beers are symphonies of flavor and balance, influenced by the great brewers of Belgium, but unmistakably true to their homegrown roots in the Pacific Northwest. Although they are served humbly, each glass is overflowing with pride and a relentless aspiration to brew the best beer in the world.

FORT GEORGE
Locally owned and operated in historic downtown Astoria, Oregon, Fort George crafts original beers available only in the Pacific Northwest. Whether in cans or kegs, at the pub or on your front porch, Fort George beer brings people together in aromatic headiness and lupulin ecstasy. For more information about Fort George, go to www.fortgeorgebrewery.com or follow them on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat @FortGeorgeBeer.

3-Way IPA is available in 16-oz four-packs and draft starting May 22nd. Fort George beer is distributed only in the Pacific Northwest.

About Redhook
Redhook was born out of the energy and spirit of the early 80s in the heart of Seattle. While the term didn’t exist at the time, Redhook became one of America’s first “craft” breweries. From a modest start in a former transmission shop in the Seattle neighborhood of Ballard, to the current breweries in Woodinville, WA, and Portsmouth, NH, Redhook has become one of America’s most recognized craft breweries. While Redhook has “grown up” over the past thirty years, one thing has never changed—Redhook is still brewing great beers like ESB, Long Hammer IPA and Audible Ale. Most importantly, Redhook has fun doing it. Redhook beers are available on draught and in bottles around the country. For more information, visit www.redhook.com.

Courtesy of Fremont Brewing Co

Back to the Future IPA
This collaboration is a liquid representation of the Pacific Northwest craft beer community; a cross-border collaboration between Seattle’s Fremont Brewing and Portland’s Breakside Brewing. We decided to brew this beer for Seattle Beer Week and will release another beer for Portland Beer Week...stay tuned.
This bromance beer is named Back To The Future IPA as a nod to the futuristic hops used in each of our releases; Jarylo and Equinox in Seattle and Azaaca and Ella in Portland. So, why did you collaborate?
Thanks for asking. We came up with the idea to collaborate while traveling through the Mexican desert on a vision quest search of the little-known but potent Chulo Berry. Although the Chulo Berry eluded us that trip, we decided to dedicate what remains of our very existence to finding that damn berry. And since that idea creeped us out, we decided to brew these beers and chill out. So, pop the top, pour yourself a little adventure and Chill Out as you ride Back To The Future on this magic hop carpet ride!

ABV: 7.0%
IBU: 65
Availability: Released, 5/7 at Chuck’s Hop Shop (85th) and available across Washington

Coin Toss Brewing Co. Launches First Brews

Courtesy of Coin Toss Brewing Co
Release Party will take place May 16 in historic Oregon City saloon

OREGON CITY, Ore. – May 4, 2015 – Coin Toss Brewing Co., Oregon City's newest brewery, will release its first two house brews to the public at the historic Trail’s End Saloon, 1320 Main St., on May 16 from 5 to 9 p.m. Black Hohl Cascadian Dark Ale and George's Honest Ale will make their Oregon City debut in advance of the brewery and taproom’s opening this summer.

“What better place to debut our history-themed creation product than at the Trail’s End Saloon,” said Coin Toss Brewing Co. founder Tim Hohl. “We love the atmosphere, the friendly people and a growing interest in local craft beer.”

Black Hohl CDA, the brewery’s flagship beer, is dark and hoppy with a malty backbone and a touch of roast. Two-row, Crystal, Victory and Chocolate malts are complemented by Columbus, Chinook, Centennial, Cascade and CTZ hops. It comes in at 6.1 % ABV and 65 IBU.
George's Honest Ale is the first offering in Coin Toss' Heritage Series, which showcases beers brewed based on historical recipes. It’s an interpretation of a beer brewed by George Washington at Mount Vernon. Sweet molasses plays an integral role in this beer, as do Cluster hops and six-row pale malt. These ingredients closely resemble those used by our Founding Father in the 1700s. George’s Honest Ale is 6% ABV and 25 IBU.

The release party will feature samples and pints of both beers. Food will be available for purchase, and door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening. Oregon City blues favorite Rae Gordon (www.raegordon.com) will perform a special acoustic set. Minors are allowed until 7 p.m.

Burnside Brewing Releases Blueberry Mint Saison The First Beer From The New Elemental Scale Series

Courtesy of Burnside Brewing Co.
5/4/2015 Portland, OR - Burnside Brewing Co. introduces the first beer in the new Elemental Scale series of one-off limited release beers with Blueberry Mint Saison. Released in limited edition 22oz bottles and 1/6 barrel kegs in Oregon next week the first tapping of Blueberry Mint Saison will be at the Burnside Brewing Pub this Thursday May 7th, 2015.

The first of four new beers for the Elemental Scale series, Burnside's Blueberry Mint Saison is a French style saison that has been kettle soured to yield an intensely aromatic beer that pays proud homage to it's rustic roots. Inspired by a Kombucha drink with a similar profile, Burnside's brewers set out to create a refreshing but complex beer with an interesting flavor profile. This ale is fermented at slightly higher temperature than normal with Blueberries and local Honey added at conditioning along with a cold side infusion of a "mint tea." This gives the beer a slightly tart and fruity quality with a subtle hint of mint freshness.

Malts: Pilsner, Vienna, and CaraPils. Hops: EKG's. 6.9% Abv 21.55 IBU's.

Blueberry Mint Saison, as all Burnside Ales, is unfiltered. This requires an increased commitment, but pays dividends in the depth, character and flavor profile of our brews.

5th Annual Portland Fruit Beer Festival

May 4, 2015 Portland, OR -
Advanced tickets are now on sale for the 5th annual Portland Fruit Beer Festival (June 12-14 2015) with an estimated 40% increase in size to accommodate crowds and the largest fruit beer list yet. The first festival dedicated to fruit beers popularity has demanded more space so organizers are happy to announce the addition of an extra lot west of Burnside Brewing allowing the festival to flow from the brewery parking lot, closing off 7th street and into the adjacent lot. This new addition allows much more space for attendees and spreads out the beer lines so there will be less of a wait. In addition to more space the festival is also opening up Friday evening 4-9pm for general admission early birds with all the beers pouring but space limited to Burnside Brewing's lot.
