Old Town Brewing Releases Warp Speed, Coffee Pale in Bottles

Courtesy of Old Town Brewing Co
Portland, Ore. – (January 12, 2016) Old Town Brewing® (OTB®), a locally owned and operated Portland brewery, announced today that it will release its newest bottled beer, Warp Speed, a unique coffee pale ale, this week.

In a marriage that’s fundamentally Portland, this combination of coffee and beer makes for a robust and refreshing coffee blend. Warp Speed gets its flavor from being aged on whole coffee beans for a slow, cold extraction keeping the delicate nuances of a cold pressed coffee, instead of the typical method of blending beer with a concentrated coffee, which tends to leave a suppressed coffee aroma and flavor. Warp Speed’s rich coffee character mixed with the malt and hops make it an aggressive and surprisingly refined draft.

Warp Speed is 5 percent ABV, 25 IBU and O.G. of 12.3 – the brewers at Old Town recommend enjoying this buzz-worthy blend at 45 degrees Fahrenheit, paired with a spicy Cajun dish, slow roasted brisket or dark chocolate. Take this beer fireside, enjoy it on the snowy mountains, or swap it for your morning coffee on Saturday

To celebrate the brewery’s second installment in its seasonal bottle series, and third available bottled beer, Warp Speed will be released at several tasting events across Portland, including:
  • North 45 – Brew Hog, Thursday, January 14, 2016, 6-9p.m.
  • Civic Taproom & Bottle Shop, Friday, January 15, 2016, 6-9p.m.
  • Hollywood Beverage, Saturday, January 16, 2016, 4-6p.m.

Beginning this week, bottles of Warp Speed will be available at several retail stores and bottle shops, including most Whole Foods, and New Seasons locations.

“We like to keep true to our hometown, and what better way to play with the flavors of Portland then making a coffee beer,” said owner of Old Town Brewing, Adam Milne. “When we considered making a coffee beer, we wanted to do something that would surprise people, instead of brewing a coffee stout or other heavier, richer styles. We’re couldn’t be happier with where we landed – the approachability of the pale mixed with the clean coffee flavors make this a beer we thinking everyone will love.”

Old Town Brewing began bottling its award winning beers in April of 2015, and is now available in retail, bottle shop, and tap house locations across Portland and Southwest Washington. It’s bottled brews include gold-winning Shanghai’d IPA, and silver medalist, the Sun Dazed Kölsch.

Award Winning Portland Brewery Signs with Oregon Distributor and Plans for Growth
Portland, Ore. – (April 22, 2015) Old Town Brewing ® (OTB®), a locally owned and operated Portland brewery, announced today its partnership with Oregon distributor, Maletis Beverage. Joining the well-known distributors roster will bring OTB’s award winning beers to bars, restaurants and retail locations throughout the Portland market starting in May. In anticipation of increased demand, the brewery is expanding its operations to include five additional 15 BBL fermenters and three 21 BBL brite tanks, more than doubling the brewery’s production ability.
“Joining forces with a respected distributor like Maletis Beverage is an incredible opportunity for us to share Old Town® beers across the region, and we couldn’t be more thrilled,” said Adam Milne, owner of Old Town Brewing. “This is a real turning point for our brewery, and we’re excited to see what the future will bring.”

Owner Adam Milne, Old Town Brewing Co
While self-distributing, OTB focused its efforts on perfecting sessionable, craft beer that reflects the unique city of Portland and its people. This labor of love brought the brewery an unprecedented four national and international awards since they began brewing in late 2011 - two from the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) ® and two from the World Beer Cup®.
“Maletis is excited to add Old Town Brewing to our craft beer offerings,” said Rob Maletis, owner of Maletis Beverage. “OTB has a unique history within the Portland beer market and the team is well known and respected in the local and national craft beer community. We’re looking forward to supporting the brewery’s continued growth across the Pacific Northwest.”

When owner Adam Milne decided to transform what was Old Town’s second location into a brewery in 2011, his vision was to create a different beer drinking experience for Portland’s enthusiastic craft beer community, one that encompassed the city’s unconventional flare and cultured history. OTB’s use of locally sourced ingredients and flavors and delivery of craft beer by bike perfectly captures the spirit of Portland.

"Old town is a reflection of its surroundings,” Milne added. "We live in a community fueled by the energy of the most creative and adventurous people, and we try to capture that energy into every beer we brew."
