Coronado Brewing Releases Barrel-Aged German Chocolate Cake Imperial Stout

Courtesy of Coronado Brewing
San Diego, CA - February 9, 2017 - Just in time for Valentine's Day, Coronado Brewing Company is releasing a decadent Barrel-Aged German Chocolate Cake Imperial Stout. This is the first offering in the company's newly redesigned Coronado Collection. The company worked with local branding agency, Mires Ball, to update the look and feel of the barrel-aged collection. "Our Coronado Collection is reserved for barrel-aging special beers, and we wanted a new design that stands out from our other offerings," says Brandon Richards, COO, Coronado Brewing Company. "The new bottles are bold, featuring the Coronado Brewing Co. 'CBC' monogram in a sleek, monochromatic metallic gold. We think it's a nice departure for these limited-release beers," says Richards.

The first barrel-aged release of 2017 started off as a big Imperial Stout, with complex layers of espresso, chocolate, and burnt toffee. The beer then spent 6 months aging in freshly dumped bourbon barrels from Smooth Ambler Distillery in West Virginia. "The barrels added a ton of rich vanilla and bourbon notes to the imperial stout base," says Ryan Brooks, Brewmaster, Coronado Brewing Company. "Then we turned up the volume and blended in toasted coconut and cacao nibs to riff off of the classic American German chocolate cake," says Brooks. Coronado's Barrel-Aged German Chocolate Cake finishes at 9% ABV, with a lingering, sweet coconut and chocolaty finish.

Fans can pick up 22oz bottles of Barrel-Aged German Chocolate Cake at the company's Tasting Room and Imperial Beach location, beginning Thursday, February 9. The Tasting Room will also be pouring this special beer on draft, in limited quantities while it lasts. For more information about Barrel-Aged German Chocolate Cake, please visit coronadobrewing.com. Stay Coastal. Cheers.

The Coronado Collection is our limited release series of barrel-aged liquid treasures. Only the boldest beers enter the barrels, and after months of aging, they emerge transformed. Enjoy now, or cellar for years to come.

Rich espresso and chocolate notes from the beer meld with sweet toasted coconut, before aging for several months in fresh bourbon barrels. The barrels impart the beer with additional hints of chocolate and vanilla for a new take on this classic American dessert.

Coronado Brewing Releasing Guava Islander IPA

Coronado Brewing Goes Tropical with Release of Guava Islander IPA

San Diego, CA - October 19, 2016
Coronado Brewing Company is excited to announce a tropical twist to its core lineup, with the addition of Guava Islander IPA. Coronado Brewing is no stranger to brewing with fruit-the company was an early pioneer with its bestselling Orange Ave. Wit, as well as the cult-favorite seasonal, Berry the Hatchet. "Coronado has a rich history of brewing with fruit," says Brandon Richards, COO, Coronado Brewing Company. "We've been experimenting with fruits in our beers for twenty years, and recently fans have been begging us to brew an IPA with fruit. After a lot of experimentation, we decided guavas really bring out the tropical notes from the hops we use," says Richards.

Guava Islander is a tropical spin on the company's 2014 World Beer Cup gold-medal winning Islander IPA. The beer is brewed with a whopping eight pounds of all natural pink guava puree per barrel of beer, giving Guava Islander a robust, fruit-forward aroma and flavor. "Pink guavas are known for being intensely aromatic, with a sweet pear and strawberry-like flavor," says Ryan Brooks, Brewmaster, Coronado Brewing. "We wanted the fruit to come through in a natural way that complements the bright citrus notes of the Centennial and Columbus hops we use for bittering and dry-hopping." The end result is a robust, unfiltered IPA with the perfect balance of juicy, tropical fruit flavor and citrusy hop bitterness.

Guava Islander joins Coronado's year round lineup of beers, including Islander IPA, Stingray IPA, Mermaid's Red, Orange Ave. Wit, Idiot IPA, Seacoast Pilsner, and Easy Up Pale Ale. Coronado will launch Guava Islander on draft and in 22oz glass bottles in mid-October, with six-pack cans following in March. Guava Islander will be available across the company's distribution network of 19 states.

For more information about Coronado Brewing and Guava Islander, visit http://coronadobrewing.com/beer/guava-islander/. Stay coastal. Cheers.

San Diego, CA - July 15, 2016 -- Coronado Brewing Company's award-winning Stingray IPA is now available for the first time in cans. The can launch is a continuation of the company's brand refresh that kicked off earlier this year; highlighting the company's coastal lifestyle and San Diego roots. The company is releasing Stingray IPA in 12-ounce can six-packs, in addition to 12-ounce bottles and on draft.

While Coronado Brewing Company continues to grow as a global brand, the cofounders are adamant about staying true to its local roots. "A big part of living in San Diego is getting outside, and being close to the water. Cans are the perfect extension of that lifestyle, allowing us to take beer where we couldn't before," said Rick Chapman, President & Cofounder, Coronado Brewing. "We are excited to see consumers enjoy cans of Stingray IPA in in their favorite places."

"Stingray IPA is one of our fastest-growing brands, and that, coupled with increased consumer demand for cans, is a great combination," said Brandon Richards, VP Sales & Marketing, Coronado Brewing. "While a bulk of our sales continue to be in the traditional bottle format, we have seen a huge increase in cans and we don't foresee that trend slowing anytime soon."

Coastal-inspired brand evolution highlighted in new look

CORONADO, Calif. - April 28, 2016 Coronado Brewing Company has released new bottles and packaging as another move in the brand's evolution. The brewery recently announced the refresh as part of a rollout with their new can offerings and is now introducing the coastal look to their bottles. The new look reflects Coronado Brewing's rich history on Coronado Island, and the relaxed state of mind that resonates with both locals and fans worldwide.

"Our new bottles offer a unique design characteristic in regards to our mermaid.  We wanted to add something that not many breweries have to offer, so we decided to use an etched design on the new bottles," said Brandon Richards Vice-President of Sales and Marketing. "The etched mermaid adds a sense of discovery to the bottle and enhances the mystic of our mermaid logo, but also focuses more on the brewery name itself," said Richards.

Cans bring a new approach to the Coronado's exceptional, award-winning beer

CORONADO, Calif. - March 2, 2016 - For the first time in the company's 20 year history, Coronado Brewing will be releasing it's beer in cans. The new can launch comes as part of a brand refresh that highlights a coastal lifestyle; encouraging consumers to get out and enjoy their beers anywhere they may find themselves. Two Coronado classics, Islander IPA and Orange Avenue Wit, will be the first to make it into cans. Additionally, Coronado Brewing is introducing their brand-new pale ale into the canned lineup, Easy Up Pale Ale. This is an exciting new step forward for the company and the industry as a whole.

The can launch is also the first time we will see Coronado Brewing unveil its new branding and logos on packaged product. This is a transition they plan to roll out over the next few seasons with the release of new limited, brewer's series, and eventually core bottles.

Coronado Brewing has become a global name over the past few years, but the core of the brand stems in staying true to its roots. "The growth of Coronado Brewing has been amazing, and we want our beers to represent who we are as a brand," said Ron Chapman, CEO and co-founder of Coronado Brewing. "Adding cans to our lineup just helps enhance who Coronado Brewing is."

"We are very excited about the release of our new Stay Coastal cans; this is something we have been talking about for many years," said Brandon Richards, vice president of sales and marketing. "Here at Coronado Brewing our lives are very much tied to the outdoors and west coast lifestyle. Having our beer available in a can, opens us up to many of those drinking occasions that lend well to us living that lifestyle."

Launch Events:
Since this is such an exciting time for the Coronado Brewing brand, we will be having a can launch party at The Lafayette Hotel. The Lafayette Hotel is a well renowned hotel located in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego. The party will take place on Sunday, April 3rd and will feature the band Chug Boat, a 'meet the brewer' pool session, and of course, our new cans. Other launch parties will be taking place in California, Chicago and Boston markets throughout March and April including Flagship Hops on the Harbor intimate Beer Dinner Cruises with our brewers and a DJ.
